Have you ever asked yourself, why you are celebrating all these public holiday, such as Eastern, Xmas or New Year´s eve or even your own private special days, such as your birthday? I do not celebrate any of them.
Work hard – Play hard
There is nothing wrong with celebrating. But should you celebrate an occasion that is not related to your own private life? Why should I celebrate Eastern or Xmas, if I am not a Christian? Just because it is hilighted as holiday in my calender or because I need an excuse not to work and to chill?
You should celebrate occasions that you have earned.
If you worked hard to achieve a certain goal, such as graduating from highschool or you trained for months to finish your first marathon, then you have every reason to celebrate. In that case you more than deserved it. Treat yourself with a nice dinner, a new toy or an expensive bottle of wine.
Turn them into an edge.
Looking at the big picture, you can utilize holidays to become an edge. As almost everyone is celebrating , you can use this time to get ahead of your competition.
I used this year Xmas to get ready for my next running competition. So, every morning I went to our local running track to complete my running sessions and I was surpised about how many other people there also doing their work outs. At the end, it is the ones who can see the bigger picture, who will win the race, excel in an exam or get their dream job.
I run at 4 am because I know my opponent is sleeping. It gives me an edge. Mike Tyson
