Propably, the most crucial thing you need to do is getting a clear picture of what your ultimate goal and purpose in life is.
Memorable Moments
I am not a materialistic person at all. Besides my comfortable home, I do not possess any valuable personal things. I do not drive a fancy car; I do not have any Gucci bags and I wear almost the same old clothes every day.
However, what I really do value is spending quality time with the ones I love. Every dime I spend creating these memorable moments is worth spending. This can range from going for a walk with my wife or inviting her for a simple dinner at her favorite Greece restaurant, going for a ski vacation with my kids or spontaneous inviting my parents to an exclusive trip to Asia over Christmas.
What are your hobbies ?
There is no need for a complex search-algorithm based on Artificial Intelligence, as you can also just look at what you do in your freetime. If your hobby is to rent a rocket and fly to the moon, then it would be quite challenging to do this every time you feel like doing it.
However, in my case, I was lucky that I enjoy doing a lot of sports that are not that expensive, such as running, soccer or cross fit. Hence, for me the ultimate goal would be to have enough time to practice as much as I want to and to have enough money to fly to any competition I want to. I will never forget experiencing the famous runners high, feeling the endorphin and dopamine flushes in my body, when I finished the marathons in London or in the Swiss Alpes.
Professional Life
Still I continue going to work. Just because I want to. Human beings are social creatures and hence we all do require the recognition of others to satisfy our social needs.
It just feels good to be part of a great team that is fighting for a common goal. Furthermore, I do enjoy the intellectual challenges of a demanding profession, including the inspiring discussions we have. Sometimes, I even feel like starring in a soap opera with all the drama: love stories; political games; intrigues and betrayals.
So after we understand what matters to us in life, the next step ist to determine how much money we require to live the happy life we want. I discuss this in Money! Does matter.
